Quick Tips for Becoming a Change Leader

When you pay close attention to something, the different areas of your brain begin to work together to complete a specific task. New brain maps are created and so, changing the way you pay attention to something can actually change the wiring of your brain in as little as a few weeks.
The Power of Focus
The brain can literally change itself in a big way in a short time. The secret to this change is in your ability to focus. The brain networks that we focus on are the ones that grow, and to create new brain circuits, all you have to do is enhance your focus on that which you wish to change or learn. When you focus your attention, you are engaging in a self-directed rewiring of your brain.
Overcome Fear of Change
The most difficult roadblock that you will experience when attempting to change your brain, is fear. As soon as the possibility of change is present, your brain sends off an alarm signal that change is a threat and that this threat is linked to uncertainty. This is also why self-directed change is much more effective than when you try to change others, because the brain immediately fears change imposed upon it by someone else.
Leading the Change
Facilitating change in others is not easy and the first step to becoming a better change leader is to understand yourself more fully. A great way to do this is to learn more about your own brain.
Change in the brain is constant. It changes based on your external surroundings, the weather, and even by what you wear. Focused attention can change the brain, and fear is the leading roadblock to change. You can create change within the brain through asking the right questions, and by paying frequent attention to your new change, you can deepen the brain’s rewiring for permanent change.
When creating change in others, make sure that you observe a person’s emotional state when you want to facilitate the change. Don’t try to facilitate change when someone is in a negative emotional state. To help others focus their attention to create change without fear, it's imperative to create a safe environment where uncertainty and threat are reduced. Use story-telling or ask questions to create brain connections, and ask them to write it down, and talk about it to keep the new brain rewiring alive.
