Entrepreneurship is Changing the World

Over the last two decades, we have seen a remarkable increase in business owners. The benefits of business ownership are immense and the transformation from employee to entrepreneur profoundly impacts how the world lives, works, learns, and enjoys leisure.

Create an Entrepreneurial Mind

There are seven desirable behaviours that will help you to create an entrepreneurial mindset. It’s what you do that matters.

  1. Be committed and determined. With these two behaviours, you can overcome incredible obstacles and compensate for weaknesses.

  2. Have courage. Display moral strength and be fearless when it comes to experimentation.

  3. Offer leadership. Be a self-starter who has high standards, and not a perfectionist. Treat others how you want to be treated and share your wealth with those that helped you to create it.

  4. Be opportunity obsessed. Make sure that you have an intimate understanding of your customers’ needs and wants.

  5. Be tolerant of risk and uncertainty. Be a calculated risk taker and tolerate lack of structure. Make sure that you are able to resolve problems and integrate solutions.

  6. Be creative and adaptable. It’s important for you to be a creative problem solver. Be open-minded and embrace nonconventional ideas.

  7. Be motivated to excel. Have an understanding of your strengths and weaknesses, while fostering a high desire for achievement and growth.

Have a Role Model or Mentor

There is a strong connection between the existence of a role model or mentor and the success of an entrepreneur. If you don’t have one already, finding a role model or mentor should be at the top of your to-do list. Here are a few tips on how to find a role model or mentor that suits your personality and business:

  1. Write down the names of industry and community leaders who inspire you with their positive qualities. These can be people that you know and people that you don’t know personally. Think big and chose people that have a huge effect on your outlook and your actions.

  2. Look for people who have overcome similar challenges to your own.

  3. Research the people you have identified and find out about their stories.

  4. Decide on one or two people from your list that you feel will make the greatest impact on your success.

  5. Reach out to your chosen role models or mentors. If you have selected people within your community or business environment, there will be a good chance that they will agree to support you.

  6. Spend time with your role model or mentor, discuss your thoughts and their opinions, and share your aspirations.

  7. Listen to their feedback and take action on areas that they suggest.
